Perhaps against my better judgment, I've decided that instead of a "first day of school" photo I'd share with you journal tidbits to give you a glimpse into our first week of homeschooling.
TUESDAY 9/8
I quit. We started. It was ugly. I told my husband in no uncertain terms that I was quitting. That is all.
WEDNESDAY 9/9
I have a nagging feeling (probably the voice of reason) that says quitting anything on the first day may not be a wise decision, so we tried again. If every day is like today we are homeschooling for the rest of our lives. I may even write a book about it. Smiles all around. We got twice the amount of school work done in half the time compared to yesterday. Bonus: our Pastor is coming over this evening and now we have something positive to share. (But we will also share the negative, too, because he's our pastor and friend and that's how we roll. Plus he'll probably figure it all out anyway.)
THURSDAY 9/10
Today was 50/50. Not as great as yesterday, but not the epic failure of Tuesday, so we can talk about it. On a funny note, my pre-schooler ate my first grader's science experiment. (Don't worry, it was just ice.)
FRIDAY 9/11
WE MADE IT. The first week of school is in the bag. We celebrated big time with ice cream and lots of stickers. The quote of the day is from my four year old who was tired of writing her name:
"Mom, can you just name me 'scribble, scribble, scribble'? That's easier to write."
There you have it: the good, the bad and the ugly.
